Dee Light Bakery Promo

Date: January 2014

<  back to news
Although not part of our usual brief, the RB team were keen to support our local independent bakery/coffeehouse.

We thought the fresh baking and the decor (a hybrid of Australian paraphernalia and rustic English farmhouse) would be great to film. We wanted to capture the essence of Dee Light Bakery, harking back to the days when you knew your bread had been baked that morning and your local was for the community and not part of a franchise.

Beautifully filmed by Ben Clowes who had to be force-fed a freshly-baked croissant at the 4:30am shoot.

Even though the All Blacks had just finished an exhausting winter tour through Europe, they were great to work with and it was great to see them training with the Exiles.

We spent the day with teams who were competing to see how they would handle the aftermath of a natural disaster. It was a day of big emotions, some torrential rain and we were proud to be involved with such a worthwhile event.

Etihad’s Train With The Best, Fly With The Best

A few lucky punters won the chance to spend the day with the Harlequins rugby team - eating like them, training alongside them and even sharing a bit of kit with them.

rb create joined the competition winners and Quins at Surrey Sports Park. We (although not always our cameras!) were allowed to sit in on the team talks and watch the Quins train.

rb create became a bit engrossed in the action and our cameraman had to be reigned in to the sideline. Well worth it though - we have the up close and personal experience for you here.

Rio Tinto's chairman Jan du Plessis handed over the London 2012 medals to Lord Coe for safekeeping at the Tower of London.

Rio Tinto’s mines in the United States and Mongolia supplied the metal to make 4,700 gold, silver and bronze medals for London 2012. Chairman du Plessis gave the Olympic and Paralympic medals to London 2012 Organising Comittee chair Lord Coe to keep in the Tower of London’s vaults.

We captured the pageantry of the grand occasion and, since failing to make the cut for Team GB, made the most of our close-up look at the medals.

MediaCo Branding at Wembley Stadium

Date: June 2012

<  back to news
Rivers of football fans streaming into Wembley Stadium provided a boisterous backdrop to MediaCo's advertising billboards and banners.

rb create wanted to do justice to the electric atmosphere of fans swarming beside billboards, banners and the sky-high wrapping around Wembley Stadium.

We extensively covered all angles of MediaCo’s advertising, including climbing onto the roof of a Range Rover to fix a camera atop a lamp-post for an optimum vantage point.

The result was an exciting, comprehensive time-lapse film of MediaCo’s branding opportunities at one of London’s most famous venues.

Etihad Captains Shoot

Date: June 2012

<  back to news
Harlequins captain Chris Robshaw and Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany squared off to settle that age-old debate which has long dominated the halls of rb create: Which is better - rugby or football? While doing that they also fitted in a photo shoot with rb create for their sponsor, Etihad.

The location was the first surprise. This shoot took place in a ‘bubble’ - an indoor synthetic football pitch in an inflatable dome which our photographers almost deflated trying to get our camera equipment in and out via the emergency door.

The second surprise was the lack of entourage for either of the captains; just a PR rep from Man City making sure Vincent had the right kit on. There were plenty of people for behind the cameras though - at one point there was a cameraman filming a photographer who was taking a picture of an rb create photographer who was taking a picture of Chris and Vincent. At least we knew the day was being well documented.

Vincent was injured but still managed to copy all the rugby ball tricks Chris showed him. The captains posed for our photos while chatting and comparing rugby vs football.

The debate continues…

Para-cyclist Sarah Storey is one of Deloitte’s ambassadors for London 2012 and officially Great Britain’s most highly-decorated competing female Paralympian.

Born without a functional left hand, Sarah has won seven Paralympic gold medals (five swimming, two cycling) and smashed through 71 world records.

rb has photographed Sarah throughout the last 18 months and she is always good fun to work with. On this shoot a minor hurricane was hurtling through yet Sarah maintained her good humour and patiently posed until we had all her shots in the bag. It was worth it, Sarah!

British Airways Plane Livery

Date: May 2012

<  back to news
To celebrate the London 2012 Olympic Games, British Airways chose artist Pascal Anson's 'The Dove' design for special edition livery on nine planes. rb create captured a time-lapse of the first plane's transformation.

British Airways had:
10 days.
32 workers.
2.4 tonnes of paint.
1 plane.

rb create had:
10 days.
3 photographers.
1 editor.
7 cameras.
200,000 images.

The British Airways painting department opened their doors to rb create, allowing us to station seven cameras in the hangar where one plane underwent ten days of stripping, sanding, priming, painting and polishing.

It was a great opportunity to showcase the time and planning that goes into repainting a plane, especially with a design that has been created for the Olympics.

>> Have a look at ten days’ work boiled down to a two-minute time-lapse.
