meet the team

In addition to the core team listed below, we are able to bring on board further staff depending on the scale of each individual project.

Richard Blake

Director

A firm believer in jumping in at the deep end, Richard's dream career started when he left his secure management position in the sports industry in the UK and headed for the US to undertake a master’s degree at the acclaimed UMass Amherst Sport Management Program, University of Massachusetts. Immediate opportunities followed in Boston for Professional Event Images, covering high-profile sporting and corporate events, such as the sponsored hysteria of the Superbowl and the extreme sports of the Gravity Games. He brought his impressive creative record and commercial experience back to the UK in 2004 to found rb photography and headed off to the Winter and Summer Olympic Games. Never known for resting too long on his laurels, Richard expanded the company further in 2006 to form rb create, adding film and post-production to the portfolio, in response to a growing market need for campaign and online content. Where his “can do” attitude will take him next is anyone’s guess.

George Blake

Director

Our success is driven by a combination of creativity, passion and commercial expertise. And for the latter we rely on George. His years of experience in the sports industry have taken him to all corners of the globe, including Australia, Brazil, China, Europe, India, Russia, SE Asia, South Africa and the US with the Olympics, Commonwealth Games and the Volvo Ocean Race. Equally at home with the Chairman of the board or his surfboard, he now calls the UK his home, and rb create his helm. A proven promoter, relationship builder, project and sponsorship manager, his years of international experience make him the ideal person to have on board, providing a true understanding of the challenges our clients face, both in the UK and further afield.

Ben Clowes

Cameraman

Ben Clowes lives a life of action and extremes, so a move from working with stills to moving pictures was a natural progression. Having initially started out climbing the corporate ladder, he left for a steeper challenge: climbing Everest, and it was the fantastic footage of this achievement that set him on his chosen career path. For Ben, the line between work and pleasure has since remained rather blurred... he paraglides for fun, but finds it also comes in handy for mountain and hot air balloon shoots. His definition of a challenging job is broad. From recording extreme sports, to creating inspiring corporate film, it’s a challenge he always relishes.

Ben Holloway

Cameraman

Camera operator and film editor Ben Holloway is rb create’s Mr Entertainment. Having started out centre stage as a musician, he made the move behind the camera and has never looked back. Being in the right place at the right time is never purely a coincidence, but often the result of careful planning and versatility; be it hanging off a grandstand to catch the Red Arrows in action, to catching the stars as they arrive for interview, Ben has managed to notch up an impressive CV. Ben claims it is the welcome into such a variety of worlds that keeps him excited about the job, from trade work and events, to the Olympics and F1. But with a CV that’s also packed with Aston Martins and film star interviews, you can’t help thinking he still feels most at home in the world of showbiz!

Romilly describes himself as a ‘people’ photographer, specialising in lifestyle, sports, advertising and editorial. However, having started out as a marine biologist, he always welcomes the chance to take some ‘plunge photography’. Romilly believes the key to a successful job lies in your rapport with the subject and having gained experience from all corners of the globe he enjoys enthusing crew and models alike, to get the perfect performance and results.

Rebecca Gin

Head of Production

Rebecca spends a great deal of time in a darkened room focused on the screen, so it’s no surprise that she jumps at the opportunity to travel. Starting out in New Zealand, her editing career has taken her to the newsrooms of the UK and the Middle East, adding big hitters such as Sky News, Al Jazeera and Bloomberg to her impressive portfolio. Fascinated by both the technological and the creative, she draws inspiration from a variety of sources. She conquers mountains of footage to arrive at a succinct, seamless narrative that realises the client’s vision and sets it apart from the corporate norm. Thankfully, due to the wonders of modern technology, her ‘cutting room floor’ is exceptionally tidy.
